I had yesterday and today off from work (normally I would be at my church admin job today), but it doesn't feel like much of a break, as yesterday I had a lesson and some other things to do in the city, and today I have lots of work to catch up on and I'm going to a concert tonight. I'm pretty stressed out these days, but hopefully most of the things that are on my mind will be done with soon.
Although I don't really have time to do any knitting for myself right now, ever the procrastinator I started the Koigu gloves I talked about in my last entry. Here's a progress pic:
I love the colors! I would be farther along, as I was almost up to the fingers by the end of the Oscar telecast on Sunday, except that there were a few picky details that were bugging me, so I ripped down to the cuff. The cuff, by the way, is garter stitch, because my friend Michele mentioned that Koigu looks pretty in garter and I didn't want to do a ribbed cuff on these for some reason. I'm quite satisfied with how it looks so far.
The other rather big thing on my mind is that Scott and I spontaneously decided to move by the end of the month. Crazy kids that we are, while looking at our renewal lease and complaining about how much the rent is going up, we checked out some real estate listings, found a few no broker fee listings in our neighborhood (we love Astoria), looked at the apartments, and put down a deposit on one of them. Just like that. In the span of about 26 hours. Although moving is always stressful, I'm psyched about our new home, which is a tiny bit smaller than where we are now (forcing me to get rid of stuff, which I've been wanting to do anyway), but is nicer and has a dishwasher! Okay, those of you who live in suburbia and/or are well-established professionals with real homes may not think this is a big deal, but in the 6 years I've not been living with my parents, I've never had a dishwasher. Hooray!
